Spin bikes are, in my opinion, one of the best ways to train your aerobic fitness. They help with weight loss, burning body fat, providing a low-impact workout, strengthening legs and lower body muscles, and most importantly, they’re a lot safer than normal road bikes that have the added risk of falling over or getting into an accident. They offer a variety of workouts that you can either do alone or in a group. With that being said, does your local gym have them? More particularly, does Planet Fitness have spin bikes?
The majority of Planet Fitness locations have studios with multiple spin bikes of all types that members can use and enjoy. Some of their facilities also offer all kinds of spin classes tailored to any need.
In this article, we’ll talk about if Planet Fitness offers spin bikes, their different types, and how you can use them.

Does Planet Fitness Have Spin Bikes?
Planet Fitness is a gym that thrives to bring the best experience to its users so that they can feel satisfied after signing up for them.
One of the best ways to do that is by offering all kinds of machines and fitness equipment that are suited for everyone.
Do you just want to have a basic workout with dumbbells and other free weights? You can do just that at Planet Fitness. Do you want to have a more creative workout using advanced machinery like Stairmasters? No worries! They got you covered. Do you want to have a cardio session with spin bikes? They offer that as well.
Almost all Planet Fitness locations have a studio with multiple spin bikes that all members can use, and there are many types that you can choose from depending on your preference.
In addition to that, there are some Planet Fitness locations (a minority) that offer spin classes to their members. These consist of a 1-hour workout that combines the use of spin bikes with strength training.
And depending on your location, you may even have multiple options when it comes to these spin classes that range from the basic stationary workout all the way to outdoor bike rides.
Since not all Planet fitness facilities have spin bikes or spin classes, one of the best ways to verify whether or not your local gym does is to contact them either through their website or directly. Here’s how you can do it online:
- Go to Planet Fitness’ contact page
- Select your location
- Fill in your personal information and ask them your question

How Do You Use the Spin Bikes at Planet Fitness?
If you’ve never used a spin bike before, I understand how confusing it can get, especially with all the buttons and commands available in the console. Here is the best and easiest way to start:
Step 1: Warm-up
Before getting on the spin bike, it’s best to warm up your legs a little bit in order to avoid injury. Lightly jog and walk in your place and do a quick leg stretching session.
Step 2: Setup Your Spin Bike
In order to have the best workout, it’s necessary to set up your bike correctly. First of all, you need to adjust the seat so it lines up with your hips. Your knees should be able to bend a little bit while extended down. In addition to that, your back needs to stay straight, so adjust the handlebar height accordingly.
Step 3: Get on the Spin Bike
After you finish setting up your spin bike, it’s time to start your workout. While sitting, make sure that you’re feeling comfortable, if not, verify your setup again until you’re satisfied. When you feel comfortable, strap your shoes to the pedal and get to work.
Step 4: Turn On the Spin Bike
To not get confused about all the buttons on your console, ignore all the ones at the top and just focus on the bottom ones. In order to turn on the spin bike, you can either press the green “start” button or the “quick-start” button, after that, you should be able to pedal.
Step 5: Controlling Difficulty
There are many ways to control the difficulty of the spin bike. I recommend starting with controlling it manually so you can get the hang of all the levels. If you press the up-arrow on top of “level”, you’ll increase the level of the spin bike, meaning that it will become harder to pedal. The higher the level, the more resistant the bike becomes.
After you get used to the different levels, you can then select a workout that will adjust the level, time, and distance automatically. The rectangular digital screen in your console shows you the difference in levels of the workout. For example, for “Hill Plus”, it’ll show something like this:
Just like the name, this difference in levels is a way to mimic riding a bike on a hill.
Step 6: Stopping the Spin Bike
In order to stop the spin bike, you can just stop pedaling. If you start getting tired but don’t want to stop, you can press the “cool-down” button which will ease up the workout for a short period of time until you catch your breath.
Conclusion:
If you’ve never used a spin bike before, it’s better to ask one of the trainers at your local Planet Fitness for guidance during your first workout. This way, you’ll be able to understand all the buttons and all the types of workouts that you can do using them.
