Steven Furtick’s Workout Routine & Diet Plan

Larry Stevens Furtick Jr. commonly known as Steven Furtick is an American Baptist evangelical Christian pastor, author, and songwriter of many worship songs that managed to win multiple awards. He is the founder and senior pastor of Elevation Church that’s based in Charlotte. He’s adored and respected by many Christians all over the world. Steven Furtick is known for many things, but one of the things that seem to grab everyone’s attention during his motivational public speeches is his physique. He has an impressive frame that surpasses most fitness gurus. With that being said, how did he manage to reach that physique, in other words, what is Steven Furtick’s workout routine and diet plan?

Steven Furtick’s workout routine consists of hitting the gym three times a day while focusing on compound exercises that target multiple muscle groups, especially the core, lifting heavy, and shortening repetitions. Additionally, his main diet plan is to focus on vegetables, avoid anything that contains too much sugar, and drink lots of water.

In this article, we’ll talk more in-depth about Steven Furtick’s workout routine, as well as the diet plan that helped him reach his impressive physique.

Steven Furtick’s Stats

Before getting into Steven Furtick’s workout routine, let’s first establish some of his basic stats (as of 2022):

  • Age: 42
  • Height: 5’9”
  • Weight: 158 lbs
  • BMI: 23.3
  • Body Fat Percentage: 12 to 14%

As you can see, Steven Furtick is pretty tall which allows him to appear huge, especially with the amount of weight that he has. In addition to that, he has a body fat percentage that’s low enough to make him appear lean, buff, and pop out his muscles.

Steven Furtick’s Workout Routine

Although there isn’t much information on the internet about Steven Furtick’s workout routine since it’s one of the things that he keeps private, I dug around and managed to find some pretty interesting stuff.

First of all, in one of his old interviews, Steven Furtick said: “I managed to hit the gym three times a day for the past few years – and I’ve really taken my core exercises to the next level, but no matter how many heavy weights I lift…I haven’t even skipped leg day once.”

From this quote alone, we can extract 4 important pieces of information:

  • Steven Furtick hits the gym three times a day (although that’s extremely difficult, it’s still doable, but I don’t recommend it for beginners).
  • He focuses on exercises that target the core (like deadlifts, planks, and crunches).
  • He lifts heavy weights.
  • And last but not least, he never skips leg day.

From these points alone, we already have a solid idea of his workout routine, all that’s left is to determine the types of exercises that he does.

In order to do that, I’ve found this youtube video of Steven Furtick’s personal trainer Buck Buhler who trains Davide, the host of Elevation YTH which is the youth ministry of Elevation Church led by Steven Furtick himself.

During this video, Buck gives Davide a bunch of exercises to perform in order to have “biceps like Pastor Steven Furtick”. These exercises are as follows:

  • Rowing machine
  • Barbell bicep curls
  • Dumbell bicep curls
  • Deadlifts
  • Pull-up leg raises
  • Battle rope slams
  • Battle rope slams with an alternating squat jump
  • Jump roping

As you can see, the majority of these exercises are compound movements, meaning that they target multiple muscle groups at the same time. For example, a deadlift works the glutes, hamstrings, lower back, quads, and core. The rowing machine works the quads, hamstrings, back, abdominals, arms, shoulders, and calves.

Since these are Buck Buhler’s go-to exercises, that probably means that they’re the same ones that Steven Furtick uses during his workout routine.

Steven Furtick’s Diet Plan

Elevation Church, which was founded by Steven Furtick has an old Facebook post that says: “We are launching a 75-day fitness & nutrition challenge for Elevation staff today. Rules: No sugar, five servings of veggies/day, no soda with sweeteners, 80-100oz of water/day, and 7 hours of sleep per night at least four times per week.”

And this was probably inspired by Steven’s own diet that he uses to maintain his impressive physique. This means that he:

  • Avoids sugar
  • Focuses on eating vegetables
  • Avoids sods with sweeteners
  • Drinks 80-100oz of water per day
  • Sleeps 7 hours a night (this is more of a lifestyle advice rather than a diet one)

Conclusion:

If Steven Furtick is someone that you look up to or if you want to reach the same impressive physique that he has, here is what you need to do:

  • Workout 2 to 3 times a day (although not necessary, especially if you’re a beginner)
  • Focus on compound exercises that target multiple muscles groups, especially the core
  • Make sure to lift heavy and shorten your repetition for maximum efficiency
  • Never skip leg day
  • Focus on eating vegetables and avoid anything that contains too much sugar
  • Drink lots of water
  • Prioritize your sleep
