XXXTENTACION’s Workout Routine

Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, also referred to professionally as XXXTENTACION or ”X” was a famous American rapper, singer, and songwriter known all over the world and loved by many fans. He managed to produce a lot of hit songs such as SAD!, Moonlight, Jocelyn Flores, Changes, and so on which allowed him to break multiple records. For example, he became the most streamed artist on Spotify. One of the best things about X was his live performances which had a unique vibe to them and always managed to light up the whole crowd. In the majority of these performances, X was always shirtless and had a pretty decent physique for his age. With that being said, how did he pull off that shape? In other words, what’s XXXTENTACION’s workout routine?

XXXTENTACION’s workout routine mainly involved MMA and boxing training while also focusing on bodyweight exercises such as push-ups.

In this article, we’ll talk about X’s body transformation over the years and the workout routine that allowed him to reach a strong physique.

XXXTENTACION’s Stats

Before getting into his workout routine, we first need to establish his latest stats (as of June 18, 2018)

  • Age: 20
  • Height: 5’6”
  • Weight: 143 lbs
  • BMI: 23 
  • Body fat percentage: 14.8%

As you may have noticed, X wasn’t that tall which is what allowed him to look buff even though he only weighed about 143 lbs. In addition to that, he had a body fat percentage that was low enough to make him look lean and pop out his muscles.

Let’s try to compare X’s physique from when he was still a teen all the way to 20 and see how his body progressed over the years:

Age 16: As you can see, when X was still 16 he already had a lean physique. He didn’t have a lot of mass but his abs were still showing and he had a decent-looking chest. I’m sure at this point, he hasn’t even started training so it all came down to genetics–and he was blessed!

Age 17: At this age, you can tell pretty easily that he started getting into shape. He had impressive abs as usual, his chest looks a lot more full, his shoulders have popped out more, and more importantly, he started developing a V-shape thanks to his growing lats. 

Age 18: At this point, all of his muscles are starting to get more definition since he got more lean and more buff. He’s starting to have an impressive six-pack, round shoulders, and his lats grew even more.

Age 19 and 20: This was the peak of X’s physique and where he looked the strongest. He had big rounded shoulders, shredded abs, excellent delts, and most importantly, his chest started to gain even more definition and fullness.

Besides some minor movements every now and then (at least that’s what shows on social media), X rarely did any weight training. Instead, he focused more on bodyweight exercises. I remember in one of his old interviews (couldn’t find a link), he said that he did between 50 to 100 push-ups every morning and every night, and that really showed since his chest started developing more during his body transformation.

In addition to that, even during his teen years, X used to get into a lot of street fights simply because he loved it which allowed him to develop his muscles and stay lean at such a young age.

When he grew older a little bit, he started getting into boxing/MMA training which is one of the best ways to build muscles and stay lean at the same time. (I’ll leave a couple of boxing videos at the end of the article)

What Other Things Helped Him Build His Physique?

Genetics: One of the main drivers that allowed him to reach such a physique is his genetics. He was lean and had muscles even at a young age before he started taking training seriously. He was blessed genetically with a low body fat percentage and the ability to grow muscles without even trying.

Height: XXXTENTACION was pretty short with small limbs which allowed him to develop muscles at a quicker rate compared to someone that’s tall.

Performance-boosting drugs: In one of his interviews, X said that he was taking performance-boosting drugs, more specifically testosterone (source). And as we all know, these significantly increase one’s ability to gain muscles and stay lean.

Other reasons: Although X didn’t show much of his diet, I’m sure that he was eating enough protein, carbs, and healthy fats. That’s because you can’t grow muscles without these essential nutrients.

Conclusion:

If you ever want to get a physique like the one XXTENTACION had, you need 4 essential things (and yes, you can reach it without taking any performance boosters):

  • Genetics on your side to stay lean or work hard to lower your body fat percentage
  • Practice some kind of physical sport like boxing or MMA
  • Eat enough protein, carbs, and healthy fats
  • Hit the gym 3 to 4 times a week
