So with all these characteristics, I often hear this question a lot: “Can Ectomorphs be fat?” or “Can Ectomorph get fat”
Yes, it’s possible, although it’s quite difficult due to their fast metabolism as Ectomorphs, anyone can get fat if they consume more calories than they’re capable of burning.

How Can Ectomorphs Avoid Being Fat
If you’re an Ectomorph and you think that it’s impossible for you to get fat, then you’re probably wrong. Anyone can get fat, it’s just more difficult for certain body types.
But here are 5 things you can do to avoid this:
Avoid Overeating
Just because you’re an Ectomorph, that doesn’t mean that you can spend your day eating whatever you like without consequences. As I said earlier, anyone can get fat. It’s just a matter of how fast you’re gonna start seeing that belly which depends on your body type. Ectomorphs, for instance, will take a lot of time to develop body fat due to their fast metabolism. But if you’re constantly eating and giving your body a surplus of energy, then it won’t be able to handle it and will store the excess energy as fat. So the best thing to do is to avoid overeating. And as an Ectomorph, I highly recommend consuming 3500 to 4000 calories per day, which is more than enough. Going above that will certainly make you overweight no matter what your body type is.
Avoid Too Much Inactivity
Doing too much of absolutely nothing during your day will give your body excess energy which won’t be used in any activity. And that excess will be stored as fat as well. If you can’t stop yourself from eating too much, use your opportunity as an Ectomorph with your rapid metabolism as an advantage and do basic activities during your day, which will burn more calories than the average person, thus, avoiding the fat to be stored in your body.
Start Working Out
This may seem too obvious, but working out as an Ectomorph comes with a lot of benefits. If you already started working out, then that’s great! You’re already significantly ahead of many people. If you’re a beginner and just started considering working out, then I highly recommend it. It may be scary at first as an Ectomorph because they don’t see results that quickly unlike the other body types, but it’s definitely a way to avoid gaining too much body weight.
And whether you’re a beginner or you already started working out, you need to follow a workout plan that’s adapted to your Ectomorph body type.
Have a Good Clean Diet
When was the last time you ate junk food? Last week? Yesterday? Or even now while you’re reading this article. You probably assume that just because you’re an Ectomorph, this won’t have any consequences on your body due to your metabolism. This is a wrong assumption because that rapid metabolism of yours will start to slow down the more you age. And if you develop bad eating habits while it can still burn calories at a fast rate, It’ll be too hard to get rid of these habits when you get older. And as a result, you’ll slowly start gaining weight and it’ll be too late and too hard to cut the excess fat.
The perfect diet for Ectomorphs consists of high carbohydrates meals (which should be your top priority) and meals that contain a high amount of protein and healthy fats.

Practice a Sport
One of the best and most fun ways to burn those excess calories is by practicing sports. It can help you maintain a healthy weight without ever having to work out. And besides the physical benefits, practicing sports can improve your mood, concentration, and sleeping. It can also reduce stress, boost your self-confidence and teach you how to solve problems, act in a team, and be a leader.
And to top it off, Ectomorphs tend to dominate in most sports. Because of their physical traits and characteristics, they can have a huge advantage, especially in endurance and fighting sports.

As an Ectomorph, It’s better to develop good habits right from the start. So make sure you’re not eating too much, avoid inactivity by practicing a sport for example, consider starting working out, and most importantly, have a good diet. So when you start getting older and your metabolism starts to slow down, you’ve already adapted your body to these good habits which will make it really hard to be overweight.
